Marco Pantani (January 13, 1970–February 14, 2004)
He rode bravely alone off the front, daring to attack like few could. He died alone in a small Italian hospital in a drama that many felt could have been stopped.His racing career will be best know for his wins in the Tour de France and Giro in 1998.
A fierce, but fragile competitor, who fought outside his weight and won more than he lost.
