Omega- The champs best friend.

Doug Jenne is one of best in the country when it comes to racing hard over long distances.

Since my time in the woods went pear shaped, I got to spend some with Omega while waiting for the race to end. While normally I am afraid of dogs (I have some scars on my face and head as I was attacked/mauled as a youngster) but Omega is so well mannered it is hard not to give some liberal petting- I highly recommend it when you are having a bad day.

While I hung with the dog it got me thinking about all the times I have seen Doug at the races since Spring of 2008 when he won Hustle and Flow at Highbridge: one thing that struck me today was that Doug seemed very focused and in his own zone when I saw him at the start of the race setting up. And maybe it had more to do with doing a weeklong mtb stage than his focus, but Doug won in a manner that reminded what the sport is about: your single best performance on any given Sunday. It was his show yesterday, and he stayed focused and calm. I saw him roll through the check points looking good and relaxed like we all wish we could- some do it better than others and that is what makes them champs.

Anyway, this is the champs best friend. Thanks for the comfort and company Omega.
